How this affects our content

It doesn't change what we recommend. Our guides are written to be genuinely useful first: we hedge health claims, we tell you when a cheaper or DIY option is good enough, and we tell you when something needs a vet rather than a product. Affiliate income simply keeps the site running.

Which links are affiliate links

Links to research, veterinary bodies, other blogs and our own pages are never monetised — we don't sell links, and we don't accept payment to add one to an existing article.

What we don't do

We don't take payment for a positive review, and we don't let a commission rate decide the ranking in a roundup. Where a product we earn nothing from is the better answer — a cheaper bowl, a DIY snuffle mat made from a rubber sink mat and fleece strips, or simply spreading kibble on a baking tray — the article says so. Prices and availability change constantly; treat any figure you see here as a guide and check the retailer's page before buying.

US Federal Trade Commission guidance requires a clear, conspicuous disclosure of material connections between a publisher and the products it recommends. This page, plus the disclosure link in our footer, is that notice. It applies across the whole site, including articles that don't repeat it inline.
